House accepts GOP amendments to EPA bill, defeats most Dem proposals
The House on Friday morning accepted four Republican amendments to a bill that would require an analysis of recent EPA regulations and delay rules related to mercury and air quality until that analysis is complete.
Members approved one amendment from Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.) that would prevent the EPA’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule and the Utility Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) rule not take effect until a new committee completes its study on the effect of EPA rules. That controversial amendment was approved in a 234-188 vote; 13 Democrats supported the amendment and 15 Republicans were opposed.
