MILWAUKEE- The proposed closing of five post offices in the city of Milwaukee has some elected officials concerned. Congresswoman Gwen Moore pointed out in a press conference Monday that all are concentrated in African-American neighborhoods.
Moore is asking people to show up to one of three public hearings and voice their opinion.
The first community meeting regarding proposals for Teutonia Station and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Station is set for Wednesday, October 19th, from 6-8 at HeartLove Place on 3229 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.
The second meeting regarding proposals for Parklawn Station and Mid-City Station will be held at HeartLove Place on 3229 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive on Thursday, October 20th from 6-8 p.m.
The third meeting regarding proposals for Hampton Station will be held at the Villard Square Library, 5190 N. 35th Street, on Thursday, October 27th, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
In all, 41 post offices could close across the state.
