U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) on Wednesday criticized the 2014 federal budget proposed by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Janesville), but suggested there could be a compromise on reducing Medicare costs.
Moore is a member of the House Budget Committee and Ryan is the chairman.
“It sets up children, the elderly, the middle class, kids who need a college education as a straw man that he has to tear down in order to justify the draconian cuts that are made,” Moore said of Ryan’s proposal in a C-SPAN interview.
But on Medicare, she said: “I think that there could be some negotiation really around reducing the cost of Medicare. I think of all the entitlement programs, there’s a real opportunity to do that.”
